OGI submit NIBE Project of the Year

Following OGI’s success in winning the NIBE Project of the Year 2009 for the design and installation of an integrated Ground Source Heating System at the RMBI Care Home in Cramlington, Northumberland, OGI has submitted another excellent project for 2010. This Year it is for the design and installation of an integrated Ground Source Heat & Cooling system at Lanchester Road Psychiatric Hospital, at Earls House in Durham.

The project comprises a NIBE 60kW fighter Heat Pump which has been programmed to provide heating to an underfloor distribution system. If there is a peak heat demand higher than that heat pump capacity, a signal is provided to the gas boilers to top up the heat supply to the buffer tank. In summer, the system provides cool water to a stand-alone cool water buffer tank. Heat is also collected from a central ambulatory area which acts as a heat trap. This heat is stored in the ground for later abstraction in the winter so improving the efficiency of the heat pump.
